The Parker Urban is available in a variety of different colours. It comes supplied in a plastic case along with a cartridge and a manual. The main components of this pen, the barrel and cap, are made from a solid lacquered brass. The nib and clip are made of stainless steel with a chrome trim. The grip is actually made of quality plastic.
The Urban has a nice bullet shape with a very modern look and is well constructed. Compared to other Parker pens it's quite heavy, when compared with the Parker Frontier it's also longer. This design is fairly unusual in fountain pens but it's very easy in use.
The nib feels very good in use, being quite firm. There was no scratching or skipping at all, with the ink flow starting immediately even if the pen was left uncapped for a while. The pen I used had a fine nib, which compared with a medium nib Frontier gave a very nice fine line. I found this fine nib to write smoothly and is definitely suitable for those left handed writers amongst us.
As already mentioned, this pen comes with a cartridge. However you can also use a Parker converter without any problems. There was no noticeable difference in the performance of the Urban when either a cartridge or bottled ink was used.
This is a fairly low cost fountain pen and for the money you get a decent, reliable and comfortable pen that will last you for many years.
